Basically, the Cage Guard hardware is installed in the animal room. The computer with the Cage Guard software installed on is directly connected with the cages and most often located in the same room. To control the experiment or analyze the data a person has to be present in the room where the cages are.

Another option for setting up the Cage Guard system allows remote control. In this enhanced setup the Cage Guard software is running on an Application Server in the animal room. You can log on to the system from anywhere else with the Cage Guard client software. This option enables you to control and view the experiment from any computer anywhere. With the Cage Guard client software you can either log in over the intra- or the internet.

With this solution, different experiments can be performed at the same time and different individuals can simultaneously use the system.

In both setups, you can connect a large number of cages to one computer.
